Nourishment at El Sol Club
Food at El Sol Club is more than fuel ~ it’s a ritual, a moment of connection, and a reflection of the land we’re gathered on. Every meal is thoughtfully prepared to support slow living, deep nourishment, and the rhythm of surf and yoga days. Our retreat menus are 100% plant-based, designed to energize, restore, and bring people together around the table.
The Chef: Ommi by Gel Kurban
Ommi is a chef-led food project by Gel Kurban, creating intimate, seasonal dining experiences rooted in place and connection. Inspired by a lifetime spent in family kitchens, Gel’s cooking is thoughtful, warm, and guided by local ingredients and culture. Each meal is crafted with care — meant to be shared slowly and felt deeply.
Gel has worked alongside El Sol Club for over three years, cooking for retreats in Costa Rica and Puerto Rico, and her approach aligns seamlessly with surf, yoga, and wellness experiences. With an intuitive and intentional style, she creates meals that feel both nourishing and communal — supporting the body, calming the nervous system, and enhancing presence throughout the retreat.
Her food is vibrant, comforting, and deeply considered — offering nourishment that complements long surf sessions, yin yoga evenings, and moments of rest in between.
The Dining Experience
Meals are shared moments — slow mornings, sun-soaked lunches, and candle-lit dinners that invite conversation and connection. Food becomes part of the retreat rhythm, offering grounding between surf sessions and a sense of home after full days outdoors.
Expect colorful plates, nourishing flavors, and meals designed to support movement, rest, and recovery — all served with intention and care.
Plant-Based, Seasonal, and Local
Our menus are entirely plant-based, celebrating fresh, whole ingredients prepared in ways that are both nourishing and satisfying. We prioritize simplicity, flavor, and balance — creating meals that leave you feeling energized, grounded, and cared for.
Whenever possible, we aim to source 100% of our ingredients locally, supporting nearby farms, fishermen-turned-farmers, markets, and small businesses. Each meal reflects the place we are in — honoring the land, the seasons, and the local community that makes these retreats possible.
